Removing Clapboards.

The two flat boards will be removed, as they are prone to leakage.




Nailing up new clapboards. All of the clapboards between the windows were removed. Once the first floor windows were rebuilt, new clapboards were nailed up. Here, a section between windows is being replaced.




Luckily, all of the sheathing behind rotted clapboards remained sound.




The completed first floor level. Notice how, now that the flat boards are gone, the house looks much more like a "saltbox".




The finished side. All told, 850 feet of clapboard was used, with very little waste. The left corner trim boards were also replaced. Storm windows re-installed.
